International Women's Day

Celebrating Our Incredible Teachers on International Women's Day.  Today, we celebrate the remarkable women who shape the minds and futures of our students every day.  Our teachers don’t just educate; they nurture, inspire, and empower our pupils to become the best version of themselves. They go above and beyond to create a positive and supportive environment where learning and growth flourish.

To all the teachers who give their time, energy, and passion—thank you.  Your dedication makes a lasting impact on our students, and we are so grateful for all that you do.

Happy International Women's Day!

IAPS Netball

Congratulations to our U11 Netball Team who travelled to West Hill Park for the IAPS U11 Small Schools' Netball Tournament. The rainy start could not dampen their spirits and despite having a tough first game against Barrow Hills, the girls showed great resilience through the pool stage and with a further win and a draw, they finished 2nd in their group securing a place in the Cup Competition.  Amongst the top 8 schools at the tournament, they then faced Aldro in the quarter-final game.  Always a tough side, this game was just a step too far but the girls played some of their best netball in this game.  A final victory over the hosts meant St Ives finished their last ever school match on a high note. The team should be so proud of what they have achieved - 2nd in their group & Cup Competition qualifiers!  Well done team - a great finish to the season!

Reception and Year 1 Dance Assembly

Year 1 & Reception blew us away with their dance performances in assembly yesterday. All the children have been working really hard to learn the choreography in PE & goodness, did it pay off! Reception's dance to The Bare Necessities was such fun & made us laugh, whilst Year 1's dance to Into The Unknown portrayed such personality & poise. All the children were so confident performing in front of the whole school & Mrs Woodward was thrilled with how brilliantly they all did.

Safer Internet Day

We've been considering the theme of 'Too Good To Be True' on Safer Internet Day today with a brilliant assembly led by United Learning.  The assembly led pupils through a load of examples of possible scams online, encouraging them to ask themselves questions like 'is it too good to be true?', 'is this asking me for personal information?', 'am I expecting an email from this person or organisation? & 'am I being asked for money?'. Pupils soon got the hang of questioning each scenario & became very good at spotting the difference between scams & genuine scenarios. Well done children & thank you to United Learning for a very interesting and useful assembly.

The RSPB's Big School's Birdwatch 2025

Great work in Forest School for Years 1 and 3 for taking part in the RSPB's Big School's Birdwatch 2025.  Sadly the weather didn't help, as it was very rainy, but the children loved counting how many birds of different species they spotted. Thanks to RSPB for this annual initiative.  It's such fun taking part!

Children's Mental Health Week

We're celebrating Children's Mental Health Week and exploring the theme 'Know Yourself Grow Yourself'.  Today the children have come to school in their own clothes to 'dress to express' so they can stand out and show their true personality.  We place huge importance on the children's wellbeing all year round with so many initiatives scattered throughout our curriculum to help them grow in confidence and stand tall.  We also know that your mental health relies on being part of a community and understanding your value within it, which is why we form bonds with pupils across all year groups and play a valued part in our community.  Our Prep Kindness Club pupils have visited the residents of Redcote Care Home today reading to, and chatting with, the residents.

Mrs Cooper, our fabulous Head of Well-being, said "Thank you to to Place2be for taking the reins on this brilliant initiative to help manage our children's mental health. It's so important for us to look after ourselves, as well as looking out for others, both within our school community and the community beyond St Ives."

Year 3 Science

Year 3 pupils have been enjoying learning all about light and shadows.  In Science this week, they investigated how shadows change, conducting a complete investigation from predicting, to coming up with a method, collecting results and concluding.  They observed carefully and made sure they were being accurate with their measurements.  Well done Year 3!

Excellent Work in Art

Some excellent work coming out of the Art department this term.  Year 5 pupils have finished their wonderful clay tile landscapes taking inspiration from Wassily Kandinsky, focussing on colour and shape.  Year 4 has been studying Pop Art and produced some stunning graphic drawings of consumer products taking inspiration from Andy Warhol.  Great work everyone!
