Their future starts here!
The Ivies offers children an exceptional start to their education journey. Situated in our light and airy Pre-Prep building, with its own garden, Nursery children have the benefits of a cosy, home-from-home environment with the advantages of being part of a big school and all the wonderful opportunities that come with it. At The Ivies, there’s always lots to do, with a fun, action-packed curriculum which includes Forest School, Art, Dance, Drama, Cooking, Numeracy, Literacy, French and Swimming. We know every child is unique and ensure we give everyone the opportunity to grow and flourish in a safe and nurturing environment.
Our wonderful Nursery team of highly qualified staff is headed up by Mrs Jeni Mayell, our Nursery Manager, who is a great advocate for giving children the freedom to explore their world through free play during which they learn to share, work together, support each other and overcome problems.
We offer morning sessions (8.30 am to 12 pm), morning sessions with lunch (8.30 am – 1 pm), afternoon sessions (1pm-3pm), afternoon session with lunch (12pm -3pm) and full day sessions (8.30 am – 3 pm). We also offer Early Birds drop off from 7.45am as well as After School Care until 5.45pm (there is a small charge for After School Care). Children staying for lunch receive a hot meal, homemade on-site, in the main school dining room.
Life Beyond Nursery
We see life at The Ivies as just the beginning of your child’s St Ives journey, and the vast majority of children in the Ivies move into the main school for Reception and beyond. At the beginning of the pre-Reception year, all Nursery parents are invited to a meeting with our Nursery Manager, Headteacher and Pre-Prep Staff to find out about life beyond Nursery. This ensures the parents are ready for life in the main school! For the children, we introduce Reception Readiness Sessions during the Summer Term in the pre-Reception year, where they will spend one afternoon a week in the Reception class. This also applies to any external children registered to join us the following September, so that all of the children become familiar with each other and life in Reception. This makes the transition to ‘big school’ as smooth and seamless as possible.
