Greenpower 'Goblin' Cars

A huge thank you to FOSI (our parent body) who helped raise funds for our brand new Greenpower project. Year 6 pupils will be building 2 fully-functioning, electrically powered racing cars! Once completed, the children will be taking the cars to the Greenpower competition day at Goodwood, giving them the chance to test their mettle against children in other schools in the area in a series of different racing challenges.

Greenpower 'Goblin' cars arrive in kit form so the children will build the cars throughout the term, learning about mechanics, electrics, car control, design & livery. And, the best thing is that, at the end of the project, the cars can be taken apart for another set of pupils to learn the skills involved in building these cars. It's very exciting Year 6 and we can't wait to see your progress!

New Tree Carving

This morning we celebrated the start of the academic year with the 'official opening' of our newly-carved cedar tree which is so integral to our playground. Over the Summer, we had the very talented @simonorourke carve our logo & the animals & words within the Building Learning Power model which forms the framework of our everyday life. We all love it!

A huge accolade to our wonderful staff who put the children's wellbeing at the centre of every decision they make. Happy Summer!

Speech Day

A brilliant Speech Day to end a brilliant year. Thank you Gregg Cackett, our guest speaker, for his wise words on personal responsibility, perseverance and purpose, delivered with such warmth, inspiration and humour. We all loved meeting him!  Wishing our pupils, staff and parents a fabulous Summer.

Sports Day

The look of joy of a once-postponed Sports Day going ahead in spite of the rain! In fact, nothing (not endless drizzle, a change of start time, a revised schedule, no picnics after) was going to stop these children giving it their all on Sports Day. In fact, despite the challenges, the cheering seemed louder and the smiles bigger. We saw it all on Tuesday - resilience, perseverance, teamwork, friendship, loyalty, determination, empathy and courage, which is everything Sport at St Ives stands for. Kids, you are brilliant!

Move Up Morning

It's been Move Up Morning this morning. Pupils across the school 'move up' to the year above to familiarise themselves with their new teachers, new classrooms and new timetable for the academic year ahead. There's a real energy and buzz around the school, especially for our new Reception children who are taking home their new St Ives teddies that'll keep them company over the Summer and remind them of us so they are raring to go when they start 'Big School' in September. We're so excited to have such a wonderful mix of children from our own Nursery and from others joining us in Reception.

Just WOW! Two nights of sheer joy watching this extraordinary bunch perform Matilda. Stunning acting, singing and choreography and SO SO funny. Absolutely outstanding! Thank you so much to Katie Nicholls, Mrs Parker & Mrs Maxwell for making it happen & to Veronique Samson for wonderful photos. But, most of all, thank you to the children for showing us what you can achieve with talent, hard work and team spirit. Your energy is truly infectious and we loved every second of your production!
