Reception Enjoy Trip to Petersfield Museum

This week, Reception had a wonderful morning at the Petersfield Museum to learn how toys have changed over time.  The theme of our adventure was 'Keep Calm and Crab On'.  As we travelled back in time over the last ten thousand years, in our crustacean themed Time Machine, we found out that the first marbles were discovered over ten thousand years ago and were actually made of clay, while dominoes originated in China over seven thousand years ago and used to be made of ivory or bone.  Toys such as metal cars and fluffy teddy bears are relatively recent innovations, from the past one hundred years.  Our favourite part of the trip was getting to play with a variety of toys made over the past sixty years. We especially loved the Minibrix which happened to be the precursor to Lego and was actually invented in Petersfield.  It was a lovely morning out and the children were so well behaved.  Great job Reception!
