Carols Around the Tree

We’re all feeling so Christmassy now, having worn our Christmas jumpers all day, sung carols around the tree and enjoyed our Christmas lunch. Thank you so much to Chef Fernando and the team - it was delicious! Two more days to go, with a lot more Christmas fun to come!

Nursery Christmas Party

Our Nursery children had a wonderful Christmas Party this morning, playing lots of traditional games, such as pass the parcel, musical bumps and musical statues. Their firm favourite, however, was making balloons jump on the parachute. Their laughter and screams could be heard over the valley!

St Ives Dads Golf Tour

Who gave the St Ives' Dads permission to have fun too?!

A couple of weeks ago, 11 St Ives Dads flew to Portugal for the inaugural St Ives Dads Golf Tour. They split into 2 groups - Year 1 Dads versus the St Ives Barbarians in a Ryder Cup style tournament over 3 rounds. It was closely fought with the Barbarians leading by 1 point during days 1 and 2. However, the Year 1 Dads fought valiantly bringing it back to a draw on the final day. Everyone had great fun, returning home a little short on sleep, but plans are already afoot for a repeat next year. We love seeing Mr Stein in his St Ives Champions jacket! Very smart indeed!

Nursery Nativity

Sheer joy watching our littlest pupils perform at the Nursery Nativity yesterday. Mrs Whittle & the rest of the team are so proud of you. You were amazing, both on & off the stage. We hope your parents enjoyed it as much as we did!

Gymnastics

This half term children have been working through a new Gymnastics programme called 'Rise Gymnastics' (new this year from British Gymnastics). In Early Years, skills & activities are linked to a theme & Reception have been thinking about 'People who help us'. This week, we were paramedics, carrying an inured teddy around the gym course - over obstacles, up slopes, off benches & tables & through hoops. We talked about 'matching ' or 'mirroring' our partners & it was a real team effort to get teddy safely through the course on a stretcher. Y1 are working on the 'discovery skills' & this week focused on taking weight on hands & balances with & without a partner. We finished with some lovely counterbalances.

Year 5 PSHE

Year 5 enjoyed a virtual call with social psychologist Professor Rhiannon Turner today. Rhiannon was the resident expert on Channel 4’s landmark documentary The School ‘The Tried To End Racism’. She gave a fascinating talk on white privilege & unconscious racial bias & answered the children's questions. This formed a central part of the class' PSHE work on racism. Thank you so much to Rhiannon for furthering our learning on this important topic.

Christmas Window in Cockerills Shoes on Haslemere High Street

Yesterday we launched our Christmas window in Cockerills Shoes on Haslemere High Street. Every pupil in the school and many of our Nursery children have drawn the stars that make up the Christmas tree and we think it looks fantastic! If you get a chance, please take your children along so they can have a look for their star in the St Ives Christmas tree! Thanks so much to Cockerills Shoes for lending us their window and to the Parish of Haslemere for this lovely, festive idea.
