Years 3 & 4 are in high spirits this morning, which is hardly surprising as they’re off to Kingswood on the Isle of Wight for three fantastic days of non-stop activities & fun! Have a brilliant time kids & we look forward to hearing all about it when you’re back on Friday!

Year 4 Science

Year 4 have been studying Earth & Space this term, discovering more about the awe-inspiring universe & our Solar System. They have been travelling through space (virtually!), making scale models of our Milky Way, & this week learning how night & day are created as pupils took the roles of the Sun, Moon & Earth, spinning & orbiting around each other.

Toddler Tuesdays at St Ives

Wonderful to see so many toddlers at our Toddler Tuesday event this morning in spite of the drizzle. In fact, the drizzle made us busier than ever. We made binoculars, we hunted for bugs, we played in the mud kitchen, we climbed & last, but not least, we finished the morning with cookies & cake! We hope to see you all again on 14th June for our last Toddler Tuesday event of the academic year.

Year 1 Trip to RHS Wisley

Year 1 had a glorious day at RHS Wisley yesterday to enrich their learning on plants. The children completed lots of activities including sketching plants, looking at different habitats in the wildlife garden, finding out about different uses for plants in the science centre & identifying fruit & vegetable plants in the glasshouse. They also had a well-earned play in the park after lots of walking!

Year 3 Geography Field Trip

On Friday, Year 4 visited three sites on the River Wey as part of their topic on Rivers in Geography. They visited its source near Blackdown, a section of the river in Radford Park in Liphook & another section in Tilford. As well as investigating how the river changed as it flowed downstream, the children also carried out fieldwork, drawing field sketches, measuring the width, cross sectional depth & velocity of the river. They looked at the aquatic life, using species identicator sheets to draw conclusions on what they could tell us about the character & health of the aquatic environment. Excellent field work Year 4!

Easter Egg Hunt

The Easter Term always ends with an Easter Egg Hunt. Today, the children ran to find their eggs with even more urgency than usual as they were worried they were going to melt in the sun! We’ve never seen such diligent looking! Now we’ve seen how well the children can find things when they want to, we’re expecting an empty Lost Property next term 😀Happy Easter everyone!

Year 6 Scholarship Success

This is our Year 6 class who are celebrating a 70% success rate for scholarships and awards this year. The children gained their awards in a variety of disciplines, from Drama to Art to Cricket and Swimming to all rounded Academics and Maths, including a Top

Academic Scholarship to St Catherine’s in Bramley and an Honorary Head’s Award to King Edward’s Witley. The diversity of the scholarships reflect the breadth and depth of the education that we offer and the strength of character of our wonderful pupils.

Mrs Kay Goldsworthy, Our Head Teacher, said: “We are so proud of all our pupils who have done so well to gain places at their chosen senior schools and to have received so many scholarships is excellent. These accolades prove that our unique offering of small class sizes and specialist teaching ensure our pupils reach their potential in all areas of

school life, giving them an excellent grounding for senior school and beyond. They will thrive in their new schools and we wish them a really bright future.”
