Matilda!

Just WOW! Two nights of sheer joy watching this extraordinary bunch perform Matilda. Stunning acting, singing and choreography and SO SO funny. Absolutely outstanding! Thank you so much to Katie Nicholls, Mrs Parker & Mrs Maxwell for making it happen & to Veronique Samson for wonderful photos. But, most of all, thank you to the children for showing us what you can achieve with talent, hard work and team spirit. Your energy is truly infectious and we loved every second of your production!

Year 1 Topic

We are so grateful to Tegan Field for coming in this week to talk to our Year 1 children about her job as a pilot. Tegan explained how she became a pilot & what is involved in flying aeroplanes. The children were captivated & now all of them want to become pilots! Thank you so much Tegan!

Year 6 Market Day

Year 6 have been busy running their own businesses this term. After creating and submitting a business plan to St Ives' Business Manager, they have been working hard on preparing their products, managing their budget and marketing their merchandise.  All their efforts culminated in Market Day on Monday. In the morning, they carefully prepared their stalls to make them enticing, before selling their items to the rest of the school. There was everything from plants, to mystery bags, to keyrings and charms. There was not much left to buy at the end- a sign of a lot of happy customers! Now they are in the process of evaluating their businesses and working out their profits, 25% which will go to their chosen charities. A fantastic learning experience for Year 6 - well done for rising to the challenge!

Reception Readiness

Our Reception Readiness sessions are in full swing. These sessions are run weekly for the last 5 weeks of term for all the children joining us in Reception in September, both from our own nursery and others. The sessions allow the children to familiarise themselves with the school and their teachers ahead of starting 'big school'. It also allows them to make new friends and ensures they settle quickly and easily in September. This cohort are looking very ready for Reception at St Ives!

Summer Fair

Lovely to see so many families enjoying the Summer Fair on Saturday. Great music, delicious barbecue and glorious sunshine. Putting Mrs Goldsworthy in the stocks made the children's day! Thank you so much to FOSI for organising.

Year 5 Assembly

A fantastic performance from Year 5 in their class assembly. The children acted out a play based on Kieran Larwood's book 'The Legend of Podkin One-Ear' and the children had written the entire script themselves. Year 5 explained that the book, a classic story of the battle between good and evil, is an allegory for climate change through an interview with our 'Kieran Larwood', scenes from the book and a finale explaining what we can all do to solve the problem. The children did an outstanding job, despite limited rehearsal time and delivered their lines beautifully and thoughtfully. We would like to thank Year 5 adults for coming along and to all those who helped the children with their costumes - they were wonderful!

Nature Walk for Year 3

Year 3 went on an extended walk of the grounds this week. We enjoyed stepping over the boundary & into the neighbouring land, heading towards Swan Barn Farm. The children were amazed at how beautiful our local area is.
