Reception in the Haslemere Herald

What a delight to open The Haslemere Herald this morning and see these happy little faces smiling back at us! Well done Reception Class of 2023.  Miss Tapp and Mrs Hayden are so proud of how quickly and easily you've settled into Big School!

World Mental Health Day

On World Mental Health Day we're reminding ourselves of all the tools we learn at St Ives to keep our wellbeing in tact.  We're especially drawing on our recent 3-day Natural Wellbeing Festival when we were introduced to many new concepts such as forest bathing and sensory grounding, both of which we loved practising and can see how they will give us a sense of calm when life feels busy and overwhelming. We also understand the value of connecting with others, being part of a community and giving back, which we also enjoyed with our visit to the residents of Redcote Care Home and our litter picking with Love Haslemere Hate Waste.

Reception Topic

Our Reception pupils are loving their topic on 'People Who Help Us' & have enjoyed special visits from a builder, a vet & even their very own headteacher, Mrs Goldsworthy! The children have loved learning what these jobs involve & how important they are in helping communities thrive. Thank you so much to our visitors - we've loved welcoming you!

Year 2 Sport

In Sport this week, Year 2s tested out their Rugby skills and showed lots of potential.  They improved their ball carrying and passing skills, remembering not to pass the ball forwards!  We finished with a game of tag style rugby, looking for spaces to run through and changing direction with the ball.  Well done Year 2!

Forest Fun Morning

Great to see a record number of families at our Forest Fun Morning on Saturday.  We loved watching the children enjoying new activities and exploring our glorious woods, returning home happy and full of s'mores!

Wellbeing Festival

"By discovering nature, you discover yourself".  This morning we discovered nature in so many ways. We learnt how to forest bathe, the ancient Japanese process of relaxation & enjoyed a session of sensory grounding where we removed our socks and enjoyed the sensation of different parts of the forest with our feet.  We also made a nature rainbow using natural materials and Autumn wreaths.  We even enjoyed drama & stories in the forest.  Day 2 of our Wellbeing Festival has definitely connected us to nature and helped us understand how nature can help us remain calm and relaxed in times of worry.

U8s Netball Match

This happy bunch of U8s have just played in their first ever Netball match!  There's so much to learn and to remember, but they did so well and had so much fun!

3-Day Wellbeing Festival

Prep pupils spent the day learning how to manage their wellbeing by connecting with nature - by painting logs in our friendship circle and welly walking - and connecting with others by visiting Redcot Care Home and playing games with the residents and working in their houses to produce uplifting, motivational songs.

Pupils Enjoy 3-Day Natural Wellbeing Festival

Could there be anything better for your wellbeing than cuddling a donkey or playing on the beach with your friends?  We doubt it!  The children are currently enjoying a 3-day Natural Wellbeing Festival where the children are mainly off-curriculum learning the extremely important lessons of how to manage their mental wellbeing through nature.  This is a shot of one of our Reception children enjoying a day at the Hayling Island Donkey Sanctuary where he was lucky enough to cuddle a donkey!
