Year 1 Forest School

A great first week of Forest School for Year 1 who spent a lovely morning in the forest! After hunting around for some suitable sticks, the children worked hard using their potato peelers safely and precisely to create rods suitable for toasting marshmallows! The children did a fantastic job, and the end result was lots of happy, sticky faces!

St Ives Award a 'Double Excellent' by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) review conducted in January 2023.

"We are thrilled to announce that St Ives School has been awarded ‘Double Excellent’ by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) review conducted in January 2023.

Schools are measured in two areas – the quality of the pupils’ academic and other achievements and the quality of the pupils’ personal development. St Ives has been regarded as excellent in both areas! This is the highest level of feedback you can receive and is testament to the high standards and committed team we have here.

The comments and observations in the report are outstanding and really sum up our special community."

Nursery Sponsored Bunny Hop

We're very proud of all our Nursery children for taking part in their sponsored Bunny Hop this week and thank you to their families for sponsoring them. There was lots of puffing and panting as they made their way around the course, persevering when they were tired little bunnies!

Swimming Squad go to IAPS

Congratulations to our squad swimmers who represented St Ives at the IAPS Swimming Championships regionals at Charterhouse School last Friday. The team has trained really hard for this and should be very proud of their efforts in such a high standard competition.

We now have to wait for the results, to see if we have any qualifiers for the National Finals in June. Fingers crossed St Ives!

Year 6 STEM Lesson

Earlier this week, Year 6 pulled together all the new forensic skills they have been introduced to this term to solve a 'murder' mystery within the school. There were 5 possible suspects. Using fingerprint identification, synthetic blood testing, fibre and hair sampling, as well other clues from the scene, they pieced together the evidence to try and find the correct suspect! The children also faced a frequently evolving situation as new evidence came in from outside agencies. The class were extremely astute in their forensic analysis and careful to not lose any vital evidence. In the end quite a few of the teams managed to catch the suspect! Great detective work Year 6!
