U7 Cross Country Invitational

A brilliant afternoon of Cross Country at St Ives and fortunately the sun was shining.  Over 50 girls and boys from five schools took part in a friendly Cross Country event through our forest and fields.  Thanks go to Brookham, Camelsdale, Grayswood and Easebourne for attending and the many parents and supporters on the sideline, cheering the children on.  A special mention goes to Mrs Lipscombe for counting the children through the forest, Mrs Duggin for coaching our Year 2 team and our wonderful Year 6's for running alongside the Year 2's and marshalling the event all afternoon.

Year 1 have worked really hard over the past few weeks learning all about Antarctica! They have studied the extreme climate and how animals survive there. They focused on penguins, their lifecycle and how our changing climate is effecting them. They finished by showing their Antarctic animal paintings! Great work penguins, next stop Birdworld!

Year 1 and 2 Forest School

Year 1 & 2 had great fun in forest school this week - they were learning to use hack saws in the forest with sticks as part of their survival skills topic. It was very tricky and they had to be careful. After all that concentration, they enjoyed playing on the see saw and rope swing!

New Equipment for Forest School

Year 1 & 2 enjoyed their forest school lesson this week, taking all the new equipment down to the outdoor classroom and being the first to try it out!  Thank you to our parent body, the Friends of St Ives (FOSI) for raising the funds to buy all the equipment - it's going to be well used!

School Reindeer Run for Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice

Thank you to all the children and staff who particpated in the Reindeer Run at St Ives on the final day of the Autumn term. We were fortunate enough to be graced with a lovely, sunny morning, making the run even more enjoyable. We hold this event every year, as it raises valuable funds for the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice - a very worthy cause - and it really is a lovely way to end the year!.
